Is the filter clogged?
A blocked filter starves the pump of flow, and most tubs shut the heater down when flow drops — it's a safety cut-off doing its job. Pull the cartridge and look at it.
Home / Hot tubs & spas
A hot tub holds a fraction of the water a pool does, so it goes off far faster. Drains and deep cleans, refills, balancing, filter work and troubleshooting.
Small water, fast swings
A backyard pool might hold sixty thousand litres. A hot tub holds fifteen hundred, heated to body temperature, with jets aerating it constantly. Every one of those things speeds up how quickly the chemistry moves.
The practical upshot: a tub can't be treated like a small pool. It needs testing more often, and it needs draining periodically no matter how well it's been kept — dissolved solids build up and no amount of chemical fixes that.
Before you call
Not every call needs a visit. If your tub has stopped heating, these two account for a good share of the problem — and both are free to rule out.
A blocked filter starves the pump of flow, and most tubs shut the heater down when flow drops — it's a safety cut-off doing its job. Pull the cartridge and look at it.
A low level lets the pump draw air. Same result: no flow, no heat, sometimes an error code. Top it up and see whether it comes back.
If both look fine, it's likely a flow or pressure switch, a tripped high-limit, or the element itself — and that needs eyes on it. Call 778-990-4539.
